Our milestones in development 

A Strong Heritage since 1925

Founded by Georg Karl as a brush factory in 1925 in the German brush-making stronghold of Bechhofen, we can look back on extensive experience in the liquid colored cosmetic market. Our headquarters and largest production site have been located in Franconia for 95 years. All important central functions are located there and it’s from this hub that we make decisions about our strategy and future as a global player. Here’s an overview of our achievements and milestones in development:

  • 2019

    Establishment of beauty manufacturing at Sulzer Mixpac China, 
    Shanghai & filling service at GEKA Elgin, USA. 

  • 2016

    SULZER acquires GEKA

  • 2015

    Establishment of GEKA do Brasil – 
    and GEKA Asia Pacific.

    GEKA acquires OEKA Oehlhorn GmbH & Co. KG

  • 2012

    3i and funds take majority stake in GEKA.

  • 2011

    Start of full service activities with an own filling line.

  • 2008/2009

    New production facility in Elgin, Chicago. 
    Opening of a new sales office in Paris.

  • 2005/2006

    Start of manufacturing and supply of molded 
    mascara brushes (1K, 2K, Moltrusion)

  • 1983

    Introduction of the Block Building System for the 
    non-exclusive product line.

  • 1980

    GEKA focuses on complete packaging and 
    application systems for liquid color cosmetics, 
    expert in molding and decoration.

  • 1971

    Acquisition of the trading division VICTORIA.

  • 1970

    GEKA increasingly focuses on plastic 
    molding and mascara.

  • 1960

    Production of first brushes for cosmetic applications, 
    initial experience in the area of plastic molding., 
    positioning GEKA as market leader

  • 1925

    Foundation of the company by Georg Karl sen. 
    in Bechhofen. Manufacturing of brushes for various 
    applications.
